Safety Tips
  • Place candles on sturdy, uncluttered, heat resistant surface.
  • Do not use candles in places where they could be knocked over by children and pets.
  • Never place candles on windows where curtains and blinds can close over them, or near any flammable decorations.
  • Always keep a burning candle within sight. Extinguish all candles when leaving the room or going to sleep.
  • Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room.
  • All candles should be kept away from children.
 Burning Tips
  • A candle should be burned one hour for every inch of its diameter to achieve a complete melt pool and maximum scent throw. Doing this will also eliminate the problem of “cratering” when the candle burns down the middle leaving a large amount of wax at the sides.
  • Trim candle wicks to ¼ inch every time before use. Too long wicks cause uneven burning and drippings, soot and smoking problems.
  • The wax pool should be free of wick trimmings and debris at all times.
  • Extinguish a candle by placing your hand over the front of the flame as you blow the candle out. This prevents any wax from splattering.
  • Many scented candles create a carbon build-up at the head of the wick. After burning and when the candle is cooled, use a tissue to remove the carbon build-up.
  • If your candle’s wick becomes too short for burning, carve away enough wax to expose the fresh wick. Then trim about ¼ inch (6 mm) of wax off the top of the candle and burn it to “rejuvenate” it.
  • Keeping candles away from drafts will help eliminate rapid uneven burn, excessive dripping, soot, and smoking problems.
  • Rule of thumb, always discontinue burning a candle when only 2 ins of wax remains. For container candles, you should discontinue use when there is only ½ inch of wax remains. This will prevent glass containers from becoming too hot and cracking.
  • Candles should be placed 3 ins apart from each other to ensure they do not melt one another.
  • One tip when burning aromatherapy candles made with essential oils is to place the candle within 3 ft of you to enjoy the best benefits of the essential oils.
  • Remember to keep your candles out of the sun and bright light as this may cause candle to discolor and "sweat". To cure a "sweating" candle, just place it in the refrigerator and it will quickly return to normal.
